Snow cleared, Zoji La reopens
Jammu, February 12
The strategically important Zoji La opened to traffic on Monday. As many as 10 vehicles from Kargil to Sonamarg and 27 vehicles from Srinagar to Kargil route started plying on the pass on Monday.
As many as 160 passengers crossed the Zoji La. Besides that, 10 vehicles were sent by the district administration Kargil to Srinagar to pick up the passengers including students.
Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon, Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), Kargil Hill Development Council, expressed pleasure and thanked stakeholders concerned on resumption of vehicular movement. The Srinagar-Leh highway was closed for traffic on January 28 after snow accumulated on Zoji La.
