After months of speculation in public domain, social organisation Ikkjutt Jammu on Friday took the political plunge with the announcement of creation of a political party with the same name, a statement today said.

The party also vowed to contest the next elections on the plank of statehood for Jammu, according to a formal announcement by president of the newbie party, Advocate Ankur Sharma, and newly formed executive committee of Ikkjutt Jammu.

Various documents to be submitted to the Election Commission of India were displayed in front of the media by general secretary Ashwani Sharma, it said.

The constitution of the party which has been adopted a few days back by the core committee was also unveiled.

This was followed by the presentation of ‘Vision Document’ of the party to the people of Jammu region.

“Executive member Jagmohan Sharma presented vision statement for power, agriculture and tourism reforms. Anil Padha gave a detailed presentation on the steps to be taken regarding education and culture, language and safeguarding the heritage of Jammu region. General secretary Kiran Kumar spoke about sports and youth affairs/services. He vowed to bring ‘National Games’ to Jammu once the party is voted to power. Paras Dubey spoke on administrative reforms envisaged by IkkJutt Jammu,” it added.

Presenting snapshot of ‘Vision Document’ including health reforms, Ankur Sharma reiterated party’s resolve to “metamorphose otherwise sick economic scenario of Jammu region. He vowed to continue fight to weed out all illegal encroachers including Rohingyas and Bangladeshis from Jammu”.

Sharma urged the civil society, political groups, social organisations, various industry and trade bodies and general public of Jammu region to get united to “defeat recently formed Gupkar Alliance by Kashmir based political parties with a unity of thought of creating separate ‘state of Jammu’ and keeping interests of Jammu region at forefront”. 

He urged the people to see through the divisive tactics and communal agenda of PAGD which they cunningly apply when they camp in Jammu, as per the statement.

Executive committee members include Ashwani Sharma, Kiran Kumar, Harish Kapoor, Anil Padha, OP Sharma, Sanjeev Chib, Jagmohan Sharma, Prof Hari Om, Vir Vikram, Avtar Krishan and Rajinder Sharma.
