Councilor of Chushul constituency, Konchok Stanzin was the chief guest during the event. In his address, he emphasised the vital role of renewable energy in enhancing the living standards of remote villages while reducing reliance on conventional energy sources.

He commended the efforts of Himmotthan Society for their work across the Durbuk block, one of the most remote areas of Ladakh, where project execution is particularly challenging due to the short working season and extreme cold temperatures.

Furthermore, he acknowledged the ongoing initiatives in the region, including Natural Resource Management (NRM) works, smart schools, animal health camps, high-value crop promotion, and greenhouse activities.

“With the installation of this 15kW solar power plant, Urgo village will now benefit from reliable lighting and enhanced energy access, directly improving the quality of life for households and enabling various community-level activities during evening hours,” Konchok said.
