In an apparent case of suicide, a serviceman allegedly shot himself dead using his rifle in Rajouri district, officials said.

Havaldar Indesh Kumar was on sentry duty inside his camp at the Anjanwali village in the Manjakote area when he fatally shot himself late Tuesday, the officials said.

They said the reason behind the extreme step was not known immediately. Police have started inquest proceedings into the case.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
