Special prayers at temples across J&K mark Ayodhya consecration ceremony

Special prayers were performed in temples across Jammu and Kashmir on Monday to mark the consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Residents, especially youngsters, burst crackers during afternoon in Jammu.

The local Hindu community and tourists thronged the Shankaracharya temple in Srinagar to mark the day and offered prayers. Special prayers were organised to mark the consecration across the Union Territory. The prayers were followed by a community kitchen for devotees.

Special prayers were also held at the Hanuman temple on the banks of the Jhelum in Amirakadal area of the city here. The temple was decorated to mark the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Prayers were also organised at the Sun temple at Mattan in Anantnag district, where devotees prayed for the return of complete normalcy in Kashmir.

Thousands of lamps would be illuminated across temples in Kashmir to mark the consecration of the temple in Ayodhya.

Special prayers were also organised at Jammu’s Raghunath temple. The temple dedicated to Lord Rama has witnessed terrorist attacks twice and was defended by security personnel.

Led by its chairman Dr Karan Singh, the J&K Dharmarth Trust organised a three-day religious event at the Raghunath temple.

The event started on January 20 with a ‘Sunderkand Path’. ‘Akhand Ramayan Path’ was held by the trust on January 21 and 22.

Many city temples had installed screens to livestream the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. The residents visited these temples and offered prayers.

Motorcycle rallies with religious flags were witnessed in different corners of Jammu city. Children and youth were seen bursting crackers as the consecration ceremony culminated.

Doda District Development Council (DDC) chairman Dhananter Singh visited temples in Bhaderwah. During his visit, the DDC chairman made a stop at the renowned Lakshmi Narayan temple, Gupt Ganga, ancient Vasuki Naag temple and the Hanuman Mandir at the famous hill station of Nalthi.
