About 742 employees who had taken voluntarily retirement after the then NC-Congress government introduced the voluntary retirement scheme (VRS)/golden handshake scheme (GHS) in 2009-10, to revive the bankrupt corporation. However, a majority of the employees are still waiting for the clearance of their dues.

“Hundreds of employees took retirement due to the promise made by the government but our retirement benefits were never released”, said Dev Raj, president, All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association.

Other demands include, release of cost of living arrears (COLA) with effect from 1999, the Sixth Pay Commission arrears from January 1, 2006 and the bonus on basic pay and implementation of corporation benefits.
