The Sashatra Seema Bal (SSB) on Thursday celebrated 56th Raising Day in Jammu with great enthusiasm and zeal. Deputy Inspector-General (DIG), Special Operations, Jammu, Manvedra was the chief guest on the occasion.
Ajay Kumar, Commandant, 7 Battalion, welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the history of the SSB, which was set up in 1963 as the Special Service Bureau. The SSB’s 7th Battalion is at present deployed in Jammu, Ramban and Doda since 2017.
The force is taking various initiatives to bring the youth from far-flung areas into the mainstream through welfare programmes and civic-action programmes. The SSB was transferred under administrative control of the MHA in 2001 and assigned the duties in Nepal, Bhutan borders and renamed as the Sashatra Seema Bal (SSB).
Manvedra congratulated the SSB for doing great job both on the borders and at other places.
