In a shocking and bizarre incident, a suspected thief was beaten up and paraded semi-naked through a busy market area in Jammu city on Friday, after he allegedly attempted to snatch the earrings of a woman.

Eyewitnesses told police that the suspect was caught red-handed after trying to escape following the attempted theft in the crowded Link Road area of Old Jammu city. Local shopkeepers, who witnessed the incident, apprehended the man and subjected him to physical assault, shaving half of his head before parading him through the market in a semi-naked state. The disturbing scene was recorded by several onlookers, and videos of the incident soon went viral across Jammu and Kashmir.

A case was registered at the Pacca Danga police station. The suspect is said to be a resident of Reasi district. The police are investigating the matter.

This incident highlights the growing concern over incidents of snatching, especially involving women, which have increased significantly in recent months.
