In a crackdown on alleged militant sympathisers, the Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday ordered termination of services of grandson of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

Official sources said an order for termination of services of Anees-ul-Islam was issued following a probe by the administration.

Anees was appointed as a Research Officer in Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in 2016. “Lieutenant Governor is satisfied after considering facts and circumstances and on the basis of available information that the activities of Anees-ul-Islam are such as to warrant his dismissal of service,” said a government order.

The UT administration has also ordered dismissal of service of a government teacher in Doda district, who was related to an active militant. Officials said the government teacher Farooq Ahmad Butt was the younger brother of LeT militant Mohammad Amin Bhatt and was active in the district. Farooq was appointed a teacher in 2005.
