Chairman of Leh Hill Development Council Tashi Gyalson chaired a review meeting on measures undertaken for the security for monasteries also called ‘Gompas’.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Tsewang Gyalson, Culture Deputy Secretary Tsewang Paljor, Leh Gompa Association (LGA) president Gyen Tsering Angdu, and General Secretary Tsering Chosphel.

Discussions focused on various issues, including the security of monasteries and the installation of CCTV cameras. The tender for CCTV installation has been approved and the department concerned has been briefed about the tendering process.

An extensive discussion was also held on drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to security and development. The MoU will be finalised and signed between the Culture Academy, LGA and the Hill Council within a few days.

Gyalson assured the Gompa Association of the Council’s full support for the holistic development and security of the monasteries. He emphasised that the council would provide all necessary assistance to ensure the preservation of cultural heritage.
