Terrorist aide killed, 2 cops injured in Bandipora encounter

A terrorist associate was killed while two policemen were injured in an encounter which broke out in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday, said officials.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Kulnar Bazipora in Bandipora district following information about presence of terrorists in the area, the officials said.

Army’s Chinar Corps said based on specific intelligence input regarding the presence of terrorists, a joint search operation was launched by Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kolnar Ajas, Bandipora.

They said the search operation turned into an encounter after the hiding terrorists opened fire on the security forces' positions. “Contact was established and firefight ensued. Operation is in progress,” Army said.

One terrorist associate and two policemen were injured in the firing by terrorists, the officials said, adding the injured terrorist associate later succumbed to injuries.
