Three thieves have been arrested by the police and stolen items worth lakhs of rupees have been recovered in the Nagrota area of Jammu on Monday.

A complaint was lodged by a resident of Jammu that the tyres and batteries of his two tankers parked in Jagti-Nagrota have been stolen by thieves.

The police visited the spot and checked CCTV footage of all shops and institutions on the national highway. The police detained Talib Hussain, resident of Kandiwara of Anantnag district, at present residing in Tanda Jagti, for questioning.

The police said he admitted to his involvement in the crime along with two accomplices, identified as Manzoor Hussain and Mohammad Shakeel, both residents of Kandivara, Kokernag tehsil, Anantnag, at present residing in Tanda Jagti.

The police said all the three persons were arrested and on their disclosure six tyres along with rims and two batteries worth Rs 2,50,000 were recovered from the Jhajjar Kotli area.

Deputy SP Mohan Sharma said, “All the three thieves have been arrested along with stolen items. This is the first theft during lockdown in Nagrota.”
