The tourism department held its first roadshow of the season in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. It plans to hold 24 similar events across the country as part of its effort to attract tourists.

“We received a good response from our first roadshow in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. We are holding 24 similar roadshows in the coming days. We have also been attending tourism-related events across the country as parts of efforts to promote tourism,” said an official of the tourism department.

Despite lifting of the advisory on tourists and abundant snowfall this winter in the Valley, footfalls continue to remain on the lower side.

Prior to revoking Article 370 last year which granted special status to J&K, the government had on August 2 issued a security advisory for the tourists and Amarnath yatris, asking them to curtail their stay in the Valley. The advisory was revoked on October 10.

The tourism department official said on Thursday, they had also participated in an event to mark the jubilee celebrations of the Maharashtra Tour Organisers’ Association (MTOA).
