Leh Deputy Commissioner Santosh Sukhadeve convened a meeting to address the concerns of local hotel and guest house associations. The meeting was called in response to a representation received from stakeholders in the tourism sector.

During the meeting, president, All-Ladakh Hotels and Guest Houses Association, Leh, Rigzin Lachic, presented a four-point demand which focused on the impact of the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack followed by tension between India and Pakistan. These events have severely impacted the tourism sector of Ladakh.

The agenda for the meeting focused on critical issues facing the tourism and hospitality sector, including the extension of an interest-free moratorium until the next financial year. Discussions also covered the rescheduling of loan structures for properties nearing non-performing asset (NPA) status and the possibility of an economic relief package to mitigate losses incurred during the current season.

Lead Bank Manager Tsering Angmo, along with representatives from various banks, asked the tourism stakeholders to give a representation letter with their demands. Deputy Commissioner Leh assured tourism stakeholders that the matter would be put in the notice of the UT administration.

Attendees included key officials and stakeholders such as Chief Planning Officer, Leh, Lead District Manager, SBI, Leh, and managers from all banks operating in Leh district, including JKDFC and JKSFC. Also present were the presidents and executive members of All-Ladakh Hotels and Guest House Association, Leh, All-Ladakh Tours Operators Association, Leh, All-Ladakh Transport Trade Association, Leh, Taxi Union, Leh, and Tempo Union, Leh.
