Srinagar, March 1

The Traders Federation Karan Nagar on Sunday sought macadamisation of roads damaged due to the frequent snowfall in the winter.

“This winter, we received several spells of snow and rain due to which all roads in the Karan Nagar area have become full of potholes. Walking and driving on these roads has become a nightmare. We urge the authorities to macadamise the roads at the earliest. The weather has improved so the repair works should be expedited,” said president, Traders Federation Karan Nagar, Ajaz Shahdhar.

He said several electricity poles in the area also needed to be relocated and the sides of the roads need to be macadamised.

“Whenever macadamisation was done in the past, the sides of roads were left untouched. As a result, it produces a lot of dust. We hope the sides of roads are also macadamised this time. At the same time, we have lots of electricity poles that create hurdles in the movement of traffic. These should be relocated as Karan Nagar is an important marketplace and its road also leads to hospitals like Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital and Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura,” said Shahdhar.
