The visit was aimed at understanding the prevailing traffic situation and assessing the challenges on ground. He was accompanied by Raja Adil Hamid, SSP Traffic, NHW Ramban, Shuvam Yadev, Project Director, NHAI, Surinder Pal Singh, DSP Traffic, Banihal, Sajjad Ahmed, DSP Traffic, Ramban, and others.
The DIG said a new flyover is being constructed along Nachalana Nallah which is going to be connected with National Highway between Nachalana and Hingni. As a result, massive construction work shall be taking place and the same is likely to hamper the hassle-free movement of traffic.
Accordingly, a spot visit was planned to find out the way-out, he added. The DIG further said that during the spot meeting, detailed discussions were held with the NHAI Project Director who has agreed to put in place all required men and machinery while undertaking flyover connectivity work with the main road and agreed that double way traffic shall not be hampered.
Accordingly, necessary directions were also issued to the traffic police for exercising utmost care and responsibility to ensure that two-way traffic is not hampered. Also, they were ordered to install signage, particularly of ‘No Overtaking’ at vulnerable points along the NH-44 to enhance commuter safety and prevent accidents, he added.
The DIG also inspected other congestion points on the Nation Highway and necessary directions were given to the officers for proper deployment of traffic police personnel and machinery at the traffic congestion sites on NH-44 for traffic management.
