Two arrested in bank theft case
In a major breakthrough, Kishtwar police have solved the J&K Bank Dachhan theft case and arrested two individuals involved in the crime. Part of the stolen amount has also been recovered.
Kishtwar SSP Javaid Iqbal Mir, during a media briefing, stated that on February 3, a complaint was received from the Branch Manager of J&K Bank, Dachhan, regarding a theft amounting to Rs 19,51,600. An FIR under relevant Sections was registered at Dachhan police station and an investigation was launched.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed under the supervision of Kishtwar ASP (OPS) Nisar Khoja. DSP Sumit Bhagat, SHO Harjeet Singh and other police personnel, worked diligently to collect evidence and analyse CCTV footage. “It was found that the theft at the bank took place during the intervening night of February 1 and 2,” the SSP informed.
During the investigation, several suspects were questioned. Based on sustained efforts and technical analysis, the team identified and arrested the primary accused involved in the crime. The accused have been identified as Mohammad Yasin, a resident of Krossa, Sounder, and Bilal Ahmed, a resident of Lidhri, Dachhan.
