The Kashmir Zone police said in a Twitter post that the forces had seized incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition, from the encounter site.

They have been identified as Warpora resident Fayaz Ahmad War, said to be an LeT commander, and Shaheen Ahmad Mir, alias Shaheen Molvi, of Cherpora Budgam. Fayaz was involved in several attacks and killings of civilians and security personnel.

During the house-to-house search, the location of the terrorists was established and they were asked to surrender, but they refused, the official said. Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar congratulated the security forces for the successful operation.
