Rajouri, December 15

Two minor children died of asphyxiation while a couple is under treatment after they inhaled smoke caused by burning of firewood inside a room to make them warm in chilly weather.

The incident took place on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday in a remote Murhuta hamlet in Kotranka sub-district of Rajouri district, said Dr Iqbal Malik, Block Medical Officer, Kotranka. The deceased have been identified as 13-year-old Sobia Kouser and the 10-month-old son of Khadim Hussain. Hussain and his wife Shamim Akhter were rushed to the Community Health Centre at Kotranka.
