Two terrorists killed in Baramulla
An official statement by the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps read, “On April 23, two to three terrorists tried to infiltrate through the general Sarjeevan area at Uri nullah in Baramulla. The troops on the LoC challenged and intercepted them, resulting in a firefight”.
“The security forces foiled an infiltration bid and eliminated two terrorists following a heavy exchange of fire with the terrorists. Large quantities of weapons, ammunition and other war-like stores have been recovered from the terrorists,” the statement added.
The incident came a day after a terrorist attack claimed 26 lives in Pahalgam. The terrorists are believed to be Pakistanis.
In another incident, Pakistan violated ceasefire in the Tattapani area of Poonch district early on Wednesday.
Pakistani troops stationed along the LoC in Poonch opened unprovoked firing on the Indian side in the Tattapani area. The Indian side retaliated effectively after which the border areas of J&K were tensed.
