Officials said the Pakistan army had been approached to bring the body back.
Earlier this month, the boy and the girl, both hailing from Uri, had jumped into the Jhelum following which a search operation was launched by the authorities.
An official said the boy’s body was spotted in the Jhelum by rescuers on Thursday but it couldn’t be retrieved and it flowed towards PoK side.

Locals, who had spotted the body in PoK’s Chinari area, informed the authorities.
The official said on Friday that PoK authorities had retrieved the body and the Pakistan army was expected to return it soon. “We are hopeful that it will be returned in a day or two,” he said.
The official said there was no information about the missing girl. “A search operation to trace her is still underway,” said the official.
