Jammu, February 26

Additional Director-General of Police (ADGP) J&K, AK Choudhary on Wednesday felicitated police sports personnel for winning two gold, three silver and five bronze medals at the All India Masters Athletics Championship-2020 and the 10th National Sambo Championship 2020 at the Armed Police Headquarters, J&K, Jammu.

The all-India Masters Athletic Championship-2020 was held at Tav-Davi-Lal Stadium, Panchkula, Haryana, from February 7 to 11. Constable Reyaz Ahmad won 1 gold medal in 800 meters event, two silver medals in 1,500 meters and 10,000 meters event, whereas constable Tahir Ahmad Mir won 1 bronze medal in 400 meters event and constable Amrish Sharma won 1 silver medal in 200 meter event and 1 bronze medal in 100 meters event.

In the 10th National Sambo Championship 2020 held at Baiewadi Stadium, Pune, Maharashtra, from February 17 to 20, SPO Irfan Lateef won 1 gold medal in 68-kg weight category, constable Faisal Maqbool won 1 bronze medal in 74-kg weight category, constable Owais Ahmad won 1 bronze medal in 82-kg weight category and constable Ishfaq Ahmad won 1 bronze medal in 100 weight category. In both the aforesaid championships, the JKP sports personnel represented the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The ADGP appreciated the hard work and dedication of the participants for their remarkable achievements in their respective sports. He also lauded the role of supervisory officers and team managers .
