The One Stop Centre (OSC) in Leh, in collaboration with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) under the Mission Shakti initiative of the Department of Social and Tribal Welfare, Ladakh, organised a one-day interaction session with representatives from various women’s religious associations. These included Anjuman Moinul Islam, Anjuman-e-Imamia and Ladakh Buddhist Association (Women’s Wing).

The session focused on critical issues related to women’s safety, security, and empowerment, aiming to create a more supportive and secure environment in the community. Discussions centered on challenges faced by women in various spheres of life, including domestic safety, access to legal resources, and the importance of economic and social empowerment.

According to a government official, “The collaboration between religious associations, One Stop Centre, and DHEW highlights the commitment of these organisations to working together to ensure the well-being and advancement of women.”

Key speakers emphasised promoting gender equality and safeguarding women’s rights during the session. Discussions also revolved around available support systems, legal frameworks, and how communities can collectively contribute to creating a safer environment for women.

The OSC and DHEW reaffirmed their commitment to continuing such initiatives, which play a vital role in building awareness and empowering women at the grassroots level.
