The Zojila tunnel is important for national security as well as for development and tourism in J&K and Ladakh as it will provide round-the-year connectivity, Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur has said.

During his visit to the tunnel, which is envisaged to provide all-weather connectivity to Ladakh, officers said work was in full swing and the NHIDCL was geared up to continue construction even in winter months. He reached Sonamarg in Ganderbal district for the Centre’s public outreach programme.

Thakur conducted an inspection of the Zojila and the Z-Morh tunnel projects and expressing satisfaction on the work progress. — PTI

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
