Acting on a complaint, the Health Department on Wednesday seized and destroyed 150 litres of ‘cooking medium’ being prepared by mixing vanaspati, ghee and ghee flavour.

The company was being run on the name of SV Trading and the inspection was done in the presence of the company’s owner. The ‘cooking medium’product was being packed and sold under different brand names of RG, Honey Lite and Home Queen.

A team of the Health Department raided a godown in the Royal Enclave area where a person was seen making adulterated desi ghee with various concoctions, including vanaspati ghee, flavour, dalda and palm oil. “The spurious ghee was being prepared with palm oil. The team seized 150 litres, which was found at the spot, and destroyed the same by burying it near the site,” a member of the team said.
