The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has arrested two suspects involved in a snatching incident and recovered the stolen gold locket. The arrests have been made by a team from Basti Bawa Khel police station under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur.

The complaint was lodged by Vaijinder Kumar Chaurasiya, a resident of Surgical Complex, Kapurthala Road, Jalandhar. Chaurasiya said on March 3, after leaving his scooter for repairs on Kapurthala Road, he was walking home when two persons on a motorcycle intercepted him near Butti Colony. The suspects allegedly threatened him and snatched his gold locket and fled.

Following the investigation, the police team tracked down and arrested the two accused, identified as Mukesh Jha, a resident of Jaina Colony, Basti Shekh, and Brijesh, a resident of Kot Mohalla, Basti Shekh. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of the stolen gold locket.

Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur emphasised the department’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the city. She assured the public that strict action would be taken against such criminals to ensure the safety of residents. The police have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities and assured them that proactive measures are being taken to curb street crimes.
