The resolution has now been forwarded to MC officials for approval.

The move initiated with the efforts of Aam Aadmi Party Jalandhar Central halqa incharge Nitin Kohli which has brought the much-needed relief to residents of Surya Enclave and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Avenue.

The areas, which were under the management of the Jalandhar Improvement Trust, will now be handed over to the Municipal Corporation soon, paving way for long-pending development works to begin.

Essential infrastructure projects such as road repairs, streetlight installation and water supply improvements had been delayed in the areas. Residents had repeatedly complained about the poor maintenance and incomplete development work but the Trust was not able to carry out work.

Kohli confirmed that he will visit the MC office tomorrow and meet Mayor Vaneet Dhir to ensure that the MC accepts the proposal at the earliest. “Once the MC takes charge, all pending works, including water supply issues, will be addressed swiftly,” Kohli stated.

Residents of both Surya Enclave and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Avenue have welcomed the decision and lauded Kohli for his efforts. Dhir also said the resolution would be presented and passed in the House soon so that development in both localities could commence without any further delay.
