Speaking to the media, SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said the operation was initiated following a complaint lodged by Surjit Singh, a resident of Raipur Araian, regarding the theft of his black Splendor Plus motorcycle on January 7. Based on the FIR registered at Police Station Mehatpur, a police team under the supervision of DSP, Shahkot, Onkar Singh Brar, and Inspector Sukhdev Singh, SHO, Mehatpur, conducted a meticulous investigation.

During their interrogation, the accused revealed their involvement in multiple motorcycle thefts across districts. The investigation led to the recovery of six stolen motorcycles, including high-end models such as Yamaha R-15 and Bajaj Pulsar. The accused targeted unattended vehicles in various districts, altering their identification features before selling them in different areas.

Both accused have a criminal history and were previously involved in similar theft cases. Efforts are underway to apprehend a third accomplice Buta Singh, who remains absconding.

The timely arrests and recoveries by the Jalandhar Rural Police have disrupted the gang’s operations, ensuring relief for vehicle owners across districts.

SSP Khakh emphasised the commitment of the police to dismantling the organised crime networks and maintaining public safety. Further investigations are ongoing to trace other vehicles stolen by the gang and to identify additional members of their network.
