In the first incident, an FIR was registered on the statement of Suraj, a resident of Begowal. According to the complainant, his father, Gurmeet Lal, a farmer aged around 50, had gone to a petrol pump on his motorcycle (PB09-EC-4984) on November 30, 2025. Around 1.40 pm, Suraj received a phone call informing him that his father’s motorcycle had been hit by a car. Reaching near the Akbarpur Puja petrol pump, he found his injured father being shifted into an ambulance. Preliminary inquiry revealed that a Swift car (PB09-EF-9710) had allegedly struck Gurmeet Lal’s motorcycle and had also collided with a scooter (PB09-EP-3175), whose rider had also suffered injuries and was hospitalised. The car was reportedly being driven by a woman identified as Mandeep Kaur, wife of Simranjit Singh of Narangpur, who had later parked the vehicle at Doaba Palace, Begowal. Suraj rushed to Civil Hospital Bholath, where doctors declared his father dead. He alleged that the driver brought the car in a negligent manner, causing the fatal crash. On his statement, police registered a case under Sections 279, 337, 338 and 304A of the IPC.

In a separate case, Baljit Singh, resident of Kotwali Kapurthala, reported an incident of violence . He stated that two youths on a motorcycle passed through his street bursting firecrackers, prompting residents to step outside. The riders allegedly fell while negotiating a turn and apologised before leaving. However the same youths allegedly returned with a group including Vishal, Deepa, Gurwinder Singh alias Timri, resident of Hussainabad; Akash of Koliyawal; Golu of Khalu; and several unidentified men armed with sticks and sharp weapons. The group reportedly reached Baljit Singh’s house, began striking his gate and pelted stones, causing damage to windowpanes and CCTV cameras. When he stepped outside, they allegedly hurled abuses and attempted to forcefully enter the premises. Hearing the commotion, neighbours gathered, prompting the attackers to flee. Police registered a case and investigations in both incidents are ongoing, and police are verifying the roles of all identified and unidentified individuals involved.
