20 cows found dead under mysterious circumstances in Phagwara
Twenty cows were found dead under mysterious circumstances at Shri Krishan Gaushala here on Sunday night.
Another 28 cows took ill. This happened after they took the feed.
Several Hindu leaders, including Shiv Sena’s Inderjit Karwal, rushed to the gaushala and alleged that some miscreants had poisoned the animals. They demanded that the miscreants be arrested soon.
SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said the police had started an investigation. She said the carcasses had been sent to Ludhiana for post-mortem while the ill cows were being treated locally.
Kapurthala SSP Gaurav Toora said that on a complaint filed by gaushala manager Satnam Singh, the police had registered a case.
Hindu organisations, meanwhile, have given a call for 'Phagwara bandh' on Monday.
