Phagwara: The Nakodar police have arrested three persons, including two women, on the charge of abetting suicide of a 30-year-old youth. Investigating officer (IO) Rajinder Kumar said the accused had been identified as Ajay Kumar of New Rattan Nagar, Basti Bawa Khel, Jalandhar, his mother Noshi and sister Anita Raj. A case has been registered against the accused. OC

Five booked for assault

Phagwara: The Lohian Khas police have booked five members of a family on the charge of assaulting a woman. Investigating officer (IO) Major Singh said the accused had been identified as Balwinder Singh of Gatta Mundi Kasu village, his wife Sita Kaur, son Santokh Singh, daughter Jaswinder Kaur, and daughter-in-law Gurprit Kaur. Shila Rani of the village complained to the police that the accused waylaid and attacked her. OC

Migrant killed in accident

Nakodar: A migrant living at Shankar village was killed in an accident on Saturday. Investigating officer (IO) Manjit Singh said the deceased had been identified as Ram Shankar of UP. The Lohian Khas police have registered a case. OC

MLAs visit Divya Jyoti Sansthan

Phagwara: Heavy police arrangements were put in place as the Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, a religious seat founded by Ashutosh Maharaj , celebrated Guru Purnima on Sunday.
