The Commissionerate Police have apprehended three persons involved in snatchings in the city. Commissioner of Police (CP) Dhanpreet Kaur said a team from Basti Bawa Khel police station was on routine patrol in Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar during which they received information about a group of three individuals — Preetpal Singh, Kirpal Singh and Ravi, all residents of Mithu Basti — who were habitual snatchers.

The group was reportedly on their way to sell a snatched mobile phone near Phullanwala Bagh, Nahlan Road. She said acting on the tip-off, the police team apprehended individuals and recovered a mobile phone (brand Oppo A3X 5G). During interrogation, the individuals revealed that they had snatched the mobile phone from a person on the Leather Complex road. An FIR was registered under Sections 304(2) and 111 of the BNS at Basti Bawa Khel police station against the three accused in this connection.
