The Shahkot police today booked three travel agents for allegedly duping a Shahkot village resident of Rs 1.25 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad.

Investigating officer (IO) and Talwandi Sanghera police post in-charge Bhupindar Singh said the suspect had been identified as Sandip, alias Baggo, Kulwindar Singh, alias Baba, and Balkar Singh, all residents of Khukhrainn village in Kapurthala.

The IO said Gurdev Ram, a resident of Akbar Pur Kalan village, complained to the Jalandhar (rural) SSP that he paid Rs1.25 lakh to the suspects for going abroad but they failed to do the same. The money was also not returned to the victim. He said a case under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC had been registered. — OC
