A 30-year-old man was found murdered near Aujla village in Kapurthala district, leading the police to register a case of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code against several persons. The victim, Maam Hussain, a resident of Chitti village near gas agency in Jalandhar, had left his home around 8 pm on September 9 and never returned. His elder brother Saif Ali lodged a complaint, stating that Hussain had left his mobile phone at home, and when he failed to come back, the family searched extensively through relatives and contacts but received no information. On September 10, the family learned that his body had been recovered outside Aujla village. He was found lying in a pool of blood with severe injuries, suggesting he had been assaulted with extreme brutality.

In his statement, Saif alleged that the family of Bacchu, a close friend of Hussain who had died in a train accident in Himachal Pradesh about a year ago, had been holding a grudge against his brother. According to him, Bacchu’s relatives had threatened and attacked Hussain multiple times in the past, and finally carried out his murder.
