Dasuya: The Dasuya police have arrested four persons from Hajipur Chowk and recovered 1-kg opium from them. According to the FIR, ASI Jagga Ram and HC Gurinder Pal Singh were present at the T-Point near Hajipur Chowk, when they received a tip-off that an Alto car, which was coming from Mukerian towards Dasuya, was ferrying opium. The informer told that those aboard were going to Jalandhar via Dasuya. When the police stopped the car and asked about their identity, the driver introduced himself as Gurdev Singh Debu of Patiala. The man sitting on the front seat was identified as Pargat Singh of Kaithal in Haryana and the one on the rear seat told his name as Darshan Ram, alias Kala, of Bhawanigarh, Sangrur. The fourth man was identified as Magra of Model Town, Tanda. On searching, 1-kg opium was recovered from the car and the accused were arrested. SHO Gurdev Singh said a case was registered against the accused under Section 18 B of the NDPS Act. They were produced in court and their remand was sought. OC
