4 arrested with looted money

Jalandhar: The police on Tuesday arrested four persons and recovered two sharp weapons, a toy pistol, a bike and Rs10,000 from them. The suspects are Suraj Kumar, Palwinder Singh of Jagpalpur village in Kapurthala; Gurukaran of Nagar village; and Yatin of Bandala Patti. DCP Gurmeet Singh said Somil, of Krishan Nagar, in his complaint on August 13, said he was depositing cash at the SBI ATM at 8.15 pm, when four unidentified persons entered and attacked him. A police party laid a trap near Dakoha railway crossing and nabbed all suspects. TNS

Toddler killed in road mishap

Jalandhar: A 1-year-old girl was killed in an accident between a car and a bike near the Transport Nagar flyover on Tuesday around 2 pm. Her parents and an aunt received serious injuries. Baljit Singh of Ludhiana, was heading home on his bike with his wife, sister-in-law and his daughter. The mishap took place when an Alto car hit Baljit’s bike from the rear. Car driver, Jaswinder Singh, was arrested. TNS
