A surprise inspection at the Kapurthala Central Jail led to the recovery of multiple banned items from unidentified inmates, the prison authorities confirmed. The search operation was supervised by Assistant Superintendent Dhiraj Kumar.

According to officials, the raid resulted in the seizure of two Oppo mobile phones without SIM cards, three Nokia keypad phones along with three batteries, three Nokia chargers, an additional Nokia battery, and one adapter. The possession of such items inside prison is strictly prohibited under the Prisons Act.

The authorities said a formal case was registered against unknown inmates under Section 52-A of the Prisons Act in this connection. The matter is now under investigation to trace the culprits responsible for smuggling and concealing devices.
