58-year-old man dies by suicide

A senior technician working at the Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala was found dead in an apparent suicide on late Friday evening. The deceased has been identified as Kamaljit Singh, (58), a long-serving employee, resided in Quarter No. 600-A, Type-2 Colony.

According to the police, Singh was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his residence. Upon receiving information, personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) broke open the quarter entry door and recovered body. Singh reportedly lived alone in his quarter.

Preliminary investigation suggested that Singh was battling health issues, including diabetes, which had significantly impaired his vision. The authorities believe his deteriorating eyesight had caused him considerable distress in recent months. Originally a native of Shahkot, Singh had been residing in Kapurthala due to his employment in the RCF. — OC
