700 patients examined at health camp

More than 700 patients availed themselves of various medical facilities.
Specialised treatment was extended to scores of patients from across the district. The visiting doctors included CMD of Tagore Hospital Dr Vijay Mahajan; Jagdeep Eye Hospital’s Dr Jagdeep Singh (MS, Eye Surgeon); and Dr Gagandeep Singh (DNB, Retina Specialist). The super-specialist team, supported by Drug India, examined patients and offered treatment for eye ailments, general health issues and dental problems. Physiotherapy, digital X-ray, ECG, blood sugar tests and blood pressure services were also provided free of charge.
A total of 130 patients were diagnosed with cataracts during eye examinations. Organisers said these operations would be performed free of cost using modern laser technology. Medicines were also distributed free of charge as per doctors’ prescriptions.
Patients benefited from the camp in various categories: 382 eye check-ups (including 125 confirmed for surgery), 50 general check-ups, 45 dental treatments, 50 physiotherapy sessions, 40 X-rays, 20 ECGs and 160 blood pressure and blood sugar tests.
Speaking on the occasion, Apahaj Ashram president Tarsem Kapur said, “The trust was established with the express intent of making healthcare affordable to the underprivileged. It is heartening to see the extent of patients being benefited by the camp. We are thankful to all the doctors who have helped make this dream a reality. Our endeavour remains to extend help to even more patients in subsequent health programmes.”
The programme began with the presence of Malvinder Kaur, Jaskiran Kaur (Bangkok), Dr Girish Bali (IRS, Commissioner Income Tax), Naresh Dogra (DCP Operations), Akarshi Jain (IPS, ADCP) and Sunil Sharma (Delight Industries). Ashok Kalra (AP Publishers) donated Rs 5,000 and Ved Prakash (Sabzi Mandi) contributed Rs 5,100. Ashram president Tarsem Kapur expressed gratitude to all doctors, donors, committee members, staff and supporters who assisted in making the camp possible.
