Six of the 14 youths who returned to the country from Dubai on Tuesday are from villages in the district. The youths got stuck in Dubai after being duped by a Pakistani company.

Varun of Bahadurpur village, Parveen Kumar of Kotfatuhi village, Mandeep Singh of Bharta village, Vishal Sharma of Sarangwal village, Manpreet Singh of Mananhana village and Amandeep Singh of Sarhala Kalan village returned from Dubai with help from SP Singh Oberoi, a Dubai-based businessman and the head of Sarbat Da Bhala Trust.

SPS Oberoi comes to Victims’ rescue 

  • Varun of Bahadurpur village, Parveen Kumar of Kotfatuhi village, Mandeep Singh of Bharta village, Vishal Sharma of Sarangwal village, Manpreet Singh of Mananhana village and Amandeep Singh of Sarhala Kalan village returned from Dubai with the help of SP Singh Oberoi.

Varun said: “We were living in a miserable condition there and did not know if we will be able to return home someday. All thanks to SPS Oberoi that we have back with our family members.”

Vishal Sharma said: “I had gone there with the help of a travel agent to work with Mother Alfaq Security company. But the owner of the company fled and we were left with nothing to eat and no place to stay before SPS Oberoi came to our rescue.” He said his parents had mortgaged ornaments to send him abroad.

Parveen Kumar said: “I went to Dubai through a Bharta-based travel agent. After we reached there, the owner of the company ran away within a few days. SPS Oberoi rescued us and brought us to India. We had paid Rs 1.8 lakh to the travel agent by availing a loan.” — OC
