The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has called for the formulation of a comprehensive policy framework to regulate coaching institutes and prevent the exploitation of students.
The demand was part of a set of major resolutions passed during the three-day session held as part of the National Executive Council meeting of the ABVP.
Addressing a press conference in Jalandhar, ABVP Punjab State Secretary Manmeet Sohal shared the developments from the meeting, which took place from May 29 to 31, 2025, at the Krishi Mandapam, Indira Gandhi Agricultural University in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh.
Sohal stated that a total of 478 delegates from across the country participated in the meeting, reflecting the nationwide reach of the organisation, which he said now has close to 60 lakh members. On the eve of the meeting, a grand exhibition was organised to showcase Chhattisgarh’s rich culture, tribal traditions, India’s valorous history, the National Education Policy (NEP), and milestone anniversaries such as the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the 500th birth anniversary of Rani Abbakka, and the centenary year of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), all presented in a creative format.
Sohal explained that during the session, four key resolutions were passed. These included the demand for a national policy to regulate coaching institutes and protect students from exploitation, an expression of concern over the growing instability in universities due to delays in the appointment of Vice-Chancellors, political interference and legal complications, and discussions on India’s internal security and global positioning. The fourth resolution addressed the increasing ideological instability observed on university campuses across the country.
The ABVP also appreciated the valour and strategic acumen of the Indian armed forces, particularly during Operation Sindoor and Operation Kagar. Various student-centric issues were discussed during the session, and outlines for upcoming programmes were drawn.Multiple initiatives were also announced to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and the 500th birth anniversary of Rani Abbakka.
To mark the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, starting from June 25, the ABVP will organise a series of events over the next two years.
These will include interactions with former political prisoners, rallies, and remembrance programmes to be held on university campuses. Further, with the approaching RSS centenary, the ABVP plans to place special focus on organisational expansion and qualitative development through a determined campaign titled “Panch Parivartan,” Sohal said.
