Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Major Amit Mahajan today directed the officials to ensure robust arrangements for the block, district and state-level sports competitions to be organised in the district under ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Dian, 2024’.

During a meeting with officials from various departments — including ADC (Rural Development) Lakhwinder Singh Randhawa, SDM Balbir Raj Singh here at the District Administrative Complex — Mahajan said block-level competitions will be held from September 1 to 10 and district-level competitions from September 15 to 22. Subsequently, state-level competitions will be held from October 11 to November 9. He emphasised that all necessary arrangements should be made in advance to ensure smooth execution of the sports events.

Mahajan highlighted the need to ensure adequate arrangements for accommodation, food, security, medical teams and transportation of the participants, so they do not face any inconvenience. He said individuals in various age groups, including Under-14, 17, 21, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70, and over 70 years can participate in these competitions.

The ADC appealed to the youth of the district to actively participate in these competitions. He mentioned that players can register on the Punjab Government’s special portal eservices.punjab.gov.in by August 28 for block-level competitions, by September 14 for district-level competitions, and by October 10 for state-level competitions.

He also announced that the torch relay rally will reach Jalandhar from Hoshiarpur on August 24 morning, and will be given a grand welcome at Adampur. It will then proceed to Kapurthala, passing through various locations in the district.

District Sports Officer Gurpreet Singh, coach Umesh Sharma and other departmental officials were also present on the occasion.
