6,698 home quarantined persons complete term

As many as 6,698 persons have completed their home quarantine period of 14 days since the lockdown/ curfew has been imposed in the city.

Around 7,730 persons were home quarantined by the Health Department for being in contact with the Covid-19 persons, of whom 6,698 have successfully completed their home quarantine period. Quarantine period of another 1,032 persons is active. The Deputy Commissioner and the Commissioner of Police said 42 areas of the district had been placed under containment plan. As many as 110 teams of the Health Department on Thursday conducted door-to-door survey of 10,741 houses during which 47,589 persons were screened. So far swab testes of 4,618 suspected patients had been conducted in the district.

Question mark over samples

Questions were raised over delayed samples and unaccounted for samples in the district during Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu’s visit to Jalandhar last evening. Members of the media asked the Health Minister to direct the Health Department to come clean on samples in the district which couldn’t be accounted for and also to explain unnecessary delays. While the minister stressed on aggressive sampling in Jalandhar and also said the state government was mulling to either set up or tie up for state of the art laboratory to ensure earlier report of the sampling.
