Armed robbers loot house, take family hostage

The robbers also took the family members of the house hostage and beat them up badly.
It is being said that the incident happened last night at 1 o’clock when armed robbers raided the house of Karamjit Singh, son of Bagga Singh, and took the family members hostage and beat them up badly and vandalised the house.
The robbers looted a chain, a bracelet, Rs 3,000 in cash, US dollars, a set of two earrings and other items at gunpoint.
The robbers beat up Daljit Kaur, wife of Karamjit Singh badly. Daljit Kaur’s legs and hands suffered fractures. Family members said that the robbers had pistols, sharp weapons and baseball bats.
As soon as information about this theft was received, a team comprising DSP Tanda Davinder Singh Bajwa, police station in-charge, Tanda, Gurjinderjit Singh Nagra and Basti Bohra post in-charge Rajesh Kumar reached the spot, started investigations and scrutinised the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the village.
DSP Davinder Singh Bajwa said the police is searching for the robbers. On the other hand, former cabinet minister Sangat Singh Giljian inquired about the condition of Daljit Kaur, wife of Amrik Singh, who was admitted to a private hospital in Tanda after the assault and expressed concern over the continuously deteriorating law and order situation.
Tanda police have started further action by registering a case against unknown thieves on the basis of the statement of Amrik Singh, who was robbed.
