However, the doctors said it was not a case of medical emergency.

The gall stones were detected in an ultrasound scan. A doctor said Arora had the option to undergo a surgery for the removal of the stones.

Following discharge from the hospital, the MLA joined the Vigilance Bureau (VB) probe in the corruption case against him.

Meanwhile, bureau officials termed his medical check-up a “routine examination”. According to doctors, he was brought to the hospital, first at 9.30 pm and then again at 1.30 am.

They said a doctor and a pharmacist remained deputed with him on the request of the bureau.

“The MLA had complained of abdominal pain. Following severe pain in early hours of Monday, he was kept under observation until morning. His vitals were checked and ultrasound conducted. He was diagnosed with multiple gallstones,” said a doctor.

“While surgery has been advised, his pain subsided. The patient can opt for a surgery as per his wish. All his vital parameters were fine,” the doctor added.

Raman Arora was arrested by the bureau on May 23 after a raid at his residence in a case of corruption and extortion. On Saturday, a Jalandhar court remanded him in five-day VB custody.
