Phagwara: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Punjab Police suffered serious injuries after the scooter he was riding was hit by a speeding truck, bearing registration number PB-08FF-3985, near Phillaur on Wednesday. The victim has been identified as Sarabjit Singh. A team of the Sadak Surakhya Force took him to the Civil Hospital. The police have registered a case against the truck driver and impounded his vehicle. OC

Cash stolen from college

Phagwara: The Lohian Khas police have booked unidentified persons on the charge of stealing cash from a college. In his complaint to the police, Kamal Kumar said he worked as an office superintendent at Sant Avtar Singh Memorial College, Seeche Wal village. Thieves barged into his office on the night of January 29 and stole Rs 85,300. Investigating officer Balwinder Singh said a case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC had been registered against the suspects.
