Asmita Hockey League: Jalandhar, Mohali to face Bathinda in final matches

In the sub-junior category, the teams of Bathinda and Mohali will compete for the title. The final matches will be played on March 27 in the afternoon. The winning team in each category will be awarded Rs 2 lakh in cash. The runners-up will get Rs 1.60 lakh and the team placed third Rs 1.20 lakh along with the winning trophies.
In the semi-finals of the junior category played today, Bathinda defeated Muktsar 6-1 in a one-sided match to enter the final. In the second semi-final of the junior category, Jalandhar defeated Mohali 2-1 through shootout to enter the final. By the end of the stipulated time, both the teams were tied 0-0.
In the first semi-final of the all-junior category, Mohali defeated Amritsar by a margin of 7-0 to enter the final while in the second semi-final, Bathinda defeated Muktsar 7-1 to enter the final.
The chief guests at today’s matches were Olympian Balbir Singh, Hockey Punjab general secretary Amrik Singh Puar, Hockey Punjab treasurer Olympian Sanjeev Kumar, Hockey Punjab executive member Gurmeet Singh, Gurpreet Singh, son of Olympian Varinder Singh and Sports Authority of India selector Mukesh Kumar.
