On the 5th day of 31st National Road Safety Week, the traffic police on Wednesday organised a free medical camp at the city railway station for residents and auto-rickshaw drivers. In the medical camp, the visitors were given the first aid training that could be utilised in case of any accident.

A team of doctors at the Civil Hospital apprised the auto drivers about how they could rescue or provide immediate firs aid help to any passenger, who gets hurt in the road accident. The commuter and auto-rickshaw drivers were also motivated to keep basic first aid medication in their vehicles. In addition, the education cell of traffic wing kept encouraging the public to follow the traffic rules. They used loudspeakers to reach out to people in large number and pamphlets regarding road safety rules were also distributed.

Secretary, Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Dr Nayan Jassal, on Wednesday flagged off a road safety awareness rally outside the District Administrative Complex. In the two-wheeler rally, all women drivers covered BMC Chowk and Guru Nanak Mission Chowk, Appejay College and concluded their rally at Nakodar Chowk.

The pillion riders carried road safety placards and sensitised commuters about the traffic norms with a purpose to put a check on the road accidents. — TNS
