A 16-year-old girl lost her life when she was crushed under the wheels of a truck. The deceased girl, identified as Romanpreet Kaur, died at the Sanghowal bus stand. The incident happened on Saturday afternoon.

A case has been registered by the Mehatpur police and the truck driver has been arrested.

Romanpreet was at the bus stop along with her parents and was waiting for a bus to Mehatpur.

A truck driver trying to navigate the deep potholes on a road, reportedly did not see her and ctushed her, leaving her dead.

An FIR has been registered at the Mehatpur police station under Sections 106 and 281 of the BNS.

The 60-year-old truck driver identified as Ram Singh of Goraya has also been arrested.

SHO, Mehatpur, said the post-mortem of the girl was conducted after which the body was handed over to her parents. Her last rites were conducted today.
