The atmosphere in Mohalla Bhim Nagar turned tense when a large quantity of beef was found in two houses of a migrant Christian family.

People immediately informed the Purhiran police. The police that reached the spot took possession of the meat and detained two persons. When the information about this incident was received by various Hindu organisations, they also started reaching the post.

Shiv Sena leader Ranjit Rana, Santosh Gupta and Dinesh Kumar said beef smuggling has been going on in this area for long. Hindu organisations also raised slogans against the police.

They demanded that strict action be taken against the alleged culprits. Deputy Superintendent of Police Devdutt, who reached the spot, said a case has been registered against these two persons under various sections of the law and the seized meat will be examined.
